CAPA21 Urges Gov. Newsom to Appoint AAPI as California Attorney General

In a letter to California Governor Gavin Newsom, CAPA21 endorsed the Asian Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus’s request that the Governor appoint an Asian Pacific Islander as California’s next Attorney General. The text of our letter is below.


Dear Governor Newsom:

The AAPI political action committee CAPA21 endorses and supports the Asian Pacific Islander (API) Legislative Caucus’s request that you appoint an Asian Pacific Islander as California’s next Attorney General, including but not limited to the following outstanding individuals:

Assemblymember Rob Bonta
Assemblymember David Chiu
Assemblymember Ash Kalra
Congressman Ted Lieu

CAPA21 also endorses the API Legislative Caucus’s support for Secretary of State Alex Padilla, Congresswoman Karen Bass, Congresswoman Barbara Lee, or Mayor Robert Garcia to fill the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by VP-elect Kamala Harris.
