Delegate Profile: Calvin Sung

Taiwanese-Chinese American Calvin Sung is a delegate from California and a whip for the California delegation. Calvin Sung works at Hilltop Public Solutions supporting the Senate Pro Tem Kevin de Leon and Senate Democrats Operations under the leadership of Courtni Pugh.

He also assisted the State Team on the Hillary for America Campaign during the California Primary. Prior to joining Hilltop, Calvin worked as a legislative aide for Senator Tony Mendoza and Assemblymember Sharon Quirk-Silva. In this role, he provided legislative analysis and community support in the policy areas of healthcare, transportation, housing, energy and the economy.

Calvin has also gained extensive experience working and managing numerous political campaigns in Southern California at the federal, state and local levels.

Why do you support Hillary for president in 2016?
She has the experience, the knowledge,  and the instinct to make the hard tough decision that comes with the job.

Which of Hillary’s platforms resonate with you most and why?
Her economic policy, energy policy, and foreign affairs policy.

If Hillary is elected in 2016, what kind of lasting impact will her Presidency have on AAPI communities across the U.S.?
We will be able to build on the foundation Obama has set for us to make our voices heard for our community and allow the next generation to explore new career opportunities and roles in American Society.

Why do you believe AAPIs support Hillary for President in 2016?
We have a choice to pick someone who understands Asian Americans are different from Asian, and that we are multiple cultures that have been group together by society or to pick a man who’ve always seen an Asian face either as subservient or an enemy.
