America’s Opportunity Fund (AOF) unveiled an ad in support of Hillary Clinton for President directed towards the Filipino community, a key voting constituency within the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community and paid phone banking targeting the overall AAPI community at large.
“Filipino Americans are the largest sub ethnic group of the AAPI community and they’re the fastest growing population in Clark County,” said AOF Executive Director Madalene Mielke. “Hillary recognizes the significance of the AAPI constituency in this “First of the West” primary state.”
“AOF is committed to identifying AAPI voters for Hillary and turning out committed AAPI Hillary supporters to caucus. With over 181,000 Asian Americans and 22,000 Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders (NHPI), this vital community comprises of 7 percent and 1 percent, respectively of the state of Nevada.
Hillary Clinton has a proven track record of supporting the AAPI community through her years as an elected official. During her years as a US Senator from the state of New York, she introduced the Count Every Vote Act, which legislated that every citizen has equal access to vote, regardless of language barriers. She has voted in support of comprehensive immigration reform with an emphasis on the reunification of families separated by the backlog of family visas by authoring legislation.
When Hillary is elected President, she will continue the fight for comprehensive immigration reform, promote naturalization, and address the family visa backlog. Her commitment to AAPI youth is to make college more affordable and make schools a safer place by combating bullying and discrimination. She is committed to AAPI women by closing the gender pay gap and correcting the 62 cents for every dollar earned by a white man.
America’s Opportunity Fund (AOF) is a Political Action Committee that provides opportunities for Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) and other communities of color to fully participate in the electoral process.
The goals of AOF are to affect a marked increase in the number of Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) elected officials in statewide and federal office; generate significant funds to support its mission in targeted states throughout the country; increase voter visibility and participation with communities of color to support AOF endorsed candidates to achieve victory.
