June 20 Event to Save China Camp State Park

(Edited from an email by Amy Jonak via Rita Mah) – The State of California is closing China Camp State Park. We all know that by now. But Friends of China Camp (FOCC), and partner organizations like MCCA are coming up with the money and the plan to keep China Camp alive.

We are this close! So close, in fact, that we’ve already been granted an early permit to operate the park as of July 1. That’s a HUGE SUCCESS! But we are still almost $50,000 short of the amount we need to keep the park open for the year and provide the programs we need to to keep folks coming through the gates.

That’s where YOU come in.

FOCC, MCCA, and several other partner groups are throwing another fantastic fundraiser at San Francisco’s Maritime Museum on Wednesday, June 20, 6-9 pm. Join us for beautiful views of the Bay (including the junk Grace Quan, built at China Camp, moored right outside), fresh grilled Marin oysters, and the best of Chinatown’s Dim Sum.

This is your chance to show your community and your state that China Camp—its place in Chinese-American history and culture and its access to all the natural beauty that Marin has to offer—is worth saving!
